Entrusted

Good Morning Princesses!

What a week!  Thank you for your continued prayers. For those of you following face-to-face, we are moving into Week 3 of Entrusted and those joining us online, Week 2.  Please keep each other encouraged.  This past week we started to write 2 Timothy. If you are completing the writing portion for our Fall 2016 session, on page 180 of your study guide you will find space to begin writing 2 Timothy, Chapter 1.  We will continue to pray through our writing portion.  It will be a labor of love!

In Week 1 we jotted down the following ENORMOUS goal. Take a look...

THE BIG GOAL?

Mighty servants of God turned loose on this globe in the great name of Jesus.

To accomplish the goal, we need to know the assignment.  So, what exactly is the assignment?

The ASSIGNMENT?

To become the mighty servants of God, we must be willing to "take up the charge". Our charge is something that as Christians we have been entrusted.

Guarding the Deposit?

1 Timothy 6:20:

20 O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you,

The DEPOSIT, The TRUST?

What is the Trust?

Gospel of Jesus Christ (teaching); AND

(Holy Spirit) gifiting to share it.

With God leading us through and with His power we can be faithful to what God has entrusted to us: The Gospel and the Gifting to share it.  Read the scripture below and note the links in red and blue.

2 Timothy 1:11-14

11 For this gospel I was appointed a herald, apostle, and teacher, 12 and that is why I suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know the One I have believed in and am persuaded that He is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that day.

Be Loyal to the Faith

13 Hold on to the pattern of sound teaching that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 14 Guard, through the Holy Spirit who lives in us, that good thing entrusted to you.

Running Your Race

The men and women during Paul and Timothy's time have run their race. Christians all around the world have and are running their races.

In the recent 2016 Olympics in Rio, the USA Women's 4X100m Relay (Allyson Felix, Tianna Bartoletta, English Gardner and Tori Bowie)  operated as a team and it took a team effort to win the gold with the second fastest time ever (41.01 seconds). Even after dropping the baton in the preliminary qualifying round, our USA Women took the gold in the finals. Take a look at the winning gold.

You see, the women's relay operated as team, even when after dropping the baton in the preliminary round, they continued to run their race. From the appeal to the final relay, each lady playing her role, carrying her entrusted deposit (the baton) to finish the race. Paul advises that we we will suffer, but to share in the suffering and to not be ashamed (2 Timothy 1:8).

We are part of a royal priesthood.  Our deposit (the Gospel and the Gifting) that we are guarding is given to us and us alone.  Within each generation Christians must take the baton and do his or her part.  So, the question is dear princesses,

"When all is said and done, could you be trusted with what was entrusted to you?"

"Can you be entrusted to go out and produce fruit, to bear much fruit?"

Father, continue to speak to your dear princesses as she digs further into Your Word this week and in the weeks to come. Fill her with the highest esteem for the gospel and gifts You have given her, that she might go forth for the glory of Your great name in this world. Amen!

Closing Thought-

Oh, (your name) guard the deposit entrusted to you. (1 Timothy 6:20)
