The Growth Potential (Part 1)

Let's GO!...

Ephesians 6:18 tells us that praying at all times in the Spirit, will infuse the armor and through the Holy Spirit we will be given the strength we need to be the ambassadors (the warrior princesses) to fulfill our ministry He has called us to for this time; this season

1. The Growth Potential (Part 1)

In the education world, the concept of a growth mindset was developed by psychologist Carol Dweck and popularized in her book, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success. In recent years, many schools and educators have started using Dweck’s theories to inform how they teach students.

A mindset, according to Dweck, is a self-perception or “self-theory” that people hold about themselves. According to Dweck, “In a fixed mindset, people believe their basic qualities, like their intelligence or talent, are simply fixed traits". Alternatively, “In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point".

Dweck's research challenges the common belief that intelligent people are born smart. As explained by Dweck, a growth mindset is not just about effort. (Wikipedia; The Glossary of Education Reform (August 2013)

As Pastor Rick Warren shared in his May 2014 devotional How To Release Your Full Potential, “What is “potential”? It is your unused strengths. Your hidden talents. Your untapped abilities. Your dormant talents. Your capped capabilities.”

If we use the concept of growth mindset along with "potential" as we view our Christian walk, our quest is a walk of faith that requires us to persevere; to continue walking. Our journey is a growth mindset or better yet, a "growth potential".

Princesses, we have all we need, God has given us many gifts and it is the same Spirit who is the source of them all. In fact, “to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good” but in order to realize our potential we must continue to walk, letting Christ lead, we must continue to trust, letting Christ lead, we must continue to love letting Christ lead, and finally we must continue to exhibit joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, staying lockstep with the Holy Spirit.1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Galatians 5:22-23

Christ fulfilled all his potential as he pleased His Heavenly Father. Only God can grow us to our full potential. After all, [God] sees the person He made [us] to be. God sees all the awesome potential and possibilities He created [us] to fulfill. (Pastor Charles Stanley, How to Reach Your Full Potential for God, November 2009)

Take a look at Psalm 139:13-16

13 For you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you

when I was made in the secret place,

when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;

all the days ordained for me were written in your book

before one of them came to be.

As we start a new year and we continue our adventure be it through storms, valleys, mountaintops, high and lows, keep walking; keep hoping; keep trusting. The Lord is our guide. He is our shepherd. (Psalm 23)

My prayer for you and I in 2018….

I pray that your growth mindset will continue to shift. That you will establish a not yet, forward attitude. I pray that your growth potential in Christ will increase and that you will continue to Ask, Seek and Knock. Finally, I pray that God will continue to grow you and me to help us reach our full potential. In the awesome and precious name of Jesus, Amen.

We are not there yet, God is still working in us all. (Job 23:10)

Get your bags packed or re-packed, let’s GO!
