Touching Base? - Part 2 - Happy November

1. Touching Base... Navigating Through Rough Terrain

Wow!  Can you believe we are approaching the end of 2017, Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner? We are also at Week 5 of our Fall 2017 study. Last we conducted a pulse check (you know, how things were going with your quest; whether have been ASKing and searching).  In all, if you have encountered some rough terrain, keep walking and stay prayerful.  God has given us permission to ASK (Ask, Seek and Knock). This is no ordinary trip or sightseeing adventure we are on.  This particular undertaking does involve danger and risk, but there is no gain without taking the risk.

2. Week 4 - A Visit of So Far's

If you have made your way to Week 4, pages 126-164, you may have chuckled a little as we are treading in some familiar Bible territory. Some of you may have grew up listening to the stories of Abraham, Jacob, Moses. Some of you may be familiar with the story of the Exodus during the Easter holiday, you know "The Ten Commandments" with actor Charlton Heston (the children of Israel leave Egypt after 400 years of bondage and are excited about going to the Promised Land). Spoiler alert!  They don't reach the Promised Land as easily or as quickly as they thought. Full of pride, doubt, disbelief, and judgment, the journey takes many, many, many years.  Oh, I digress! (Past study connections, "Meet the New You", "Seamless", "Breath, The Life of God in Us").

The 'long of the short' is that some of these stories may be familiar to you and for others, you may be reading for the first time this week. Nonetheless, these stories are a part of a larger story, one that has been in play since the beginning. God's desire to have a relationship with each of us. Our longing for something more. We were created for God's glory.

This week, as you dig into Week 4, review Colossians 1:16-17

For everything was created by Him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities— all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together.

Oh, princesses of faith...remember

Prayer “empowers and ‘charges up’ every other piece so they can be used effectively against the enemy.  Without prayer…  your armor, cannot, will not, be infused with the power that only God’s-Spirit can give."
