The Holy Spirit Power- Creation and Invasion

Heavenly Father strengthen us as we pour out so that You can pour in and lead us as we pour forth in Your name. Amen

June 22, 2020

Good morning. This week we move into our third week of Breath. As we continue to explore the connection between the Holy Spirit and power, today, we will hit the pause button and walk through 5 steps as we take a different look at the Holy Spirit ~ creation and invasion.

Before you begin, open in prayer and ask our Heavenly Father to make His presence known as you go through the steps and think about the central question through today's report.

Step 1 - Read the following quote.

According to Gordon Fee, "for Paul, the terms 'Spirit' and 'power' are at times nearly interchangeable; to speak of the Spirit is also to speak of power". (God's Empowering Presence: The Holy Spirit in the Letters of Paul, 1994)

In reading the prior quote, think about the following question:

Is there a difference between being created by God and being invaded by God?

Step 2 - Watch the following video.

Step 3- The Dirt Experiment.

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:16-17

This week go outside and gather some dirt. Yes, dirt. The kind of stuff we tell kids and family members not to bring into the house!

If you have plants, just gather some dirt in your hand and blow. Yes, take a deep breath and blow. 1, 2, 3- Blow. What happens to the dirt? After blowing on the dirt and seeing the results answer the following question:

Is there a difference between being created by God and being invaded by God?

Step 4 - The Breath Test.

Genesis 2:7 tells us that

...the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

Okay, just one more hands-on test for this week. Sitting still for thirty seconds, count the number of breaths you take. After counting your breaths and writing down the results answer the following question:

Is there a difference between being created by God and being invaded by God?

I would love to hear your thoughts after you complete the five steps. Send back a response or join us on Tuesday for our next Bible Study session. As we close out today's report, just one last step princesses. Take some time to quiet yourself and recite the following closing prayer.

Step 5- Closing Prayer.

Holy Spirit, fill me. Thank you Lord for creation and for creating me in your image. Thank you Lord for the power of your Holy Spirit. For filling me and diligently, patiently and carefully working in, with and through me. Lord while at times it may not feel good, I thank you for the pruning.
Strenghten me Lord. Thank you Lord for making all things work together so that I can become what you've already seen - your masterpiece. Amen
