Setting the Stage...

In the sixth year, in the sixth month on the fifth day, while I was sitting in my house and the elders of Judah were sitting before me, the hand of the Sovereign Lord came on me there. Ezekiel 8:1

Based on Ezekiel's timeframe, this is the second dated message. The year is 592 BC (August/September). The Israelites are still in exile (Babylonia). While Ezekiel is re-enacting a symbolic act (lying bound on his right side) per God's instructions to bear the infliction of Judah he receives a vision of abominations occurring in God's temple. Because of the these acts, judgment will surely carried out. BUT...similar to the remnants discussed in Chapter 5, God's love still prevails and God promises in verses 7 and 19:

“Therefore say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again.’
19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

As I read Chapters 8-11, I was encouraged by verses 7 and 19. The words spoken by our Sovereign Lord reminded me of Cyndi Lauper's 1983 song, "Time After Time". The chorus outlines love without limits (an undivided heart).

If you're lost you can look and you will find me Time after time If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting Time after time If you're lost, you can look and you will find me Time after time If you fall, I will catch you, I will be waiting Time after time

For the children of Israel, while they underwent judgment for their abominations, God promised in Ezekiel 5:3 ; 6:8-10 and 11:16-17 that a few, remnants, (yes Lord) would be saved.

Dear Princesses, we are those remnants (thank you Lord).

Time After Time

Time after time our Lord fights for us. Time after time He rescues us. Time after time He has our back. His love chases us time after time. The epitome of God's timeless faithfulness was demonstrated in a symbolic act of love to save the world; the sending of His only son, Jesus Christ, to bear the sins of the world on the cross. Because of God's great love, our resurrected Savior Jesus Christ made it possible for you and I (Christians) to receive the Holy Spirit so that we can live according to God's righteous standards.

As Christians we are God's people and He is our God ~ time after time.

As you read Ezekiel chapters, 8-11, you will notice that judgment is at hand. God provides Ezekiel with what was to come by way of judgment on Judah because their heart had become hardened against God and his ways. In spite of this straying and divided heart, God's hold out hope (a remnant) for His people time after time. The same holds true for us today. No matter what we are going through as Christians, time after time because of Christ He is our hope upon hope.

Thank you, Lord...

Amen. Yes, Lord.
