UNITY in CommUNITY

Heavenly Father strengthen us as we pour out so that You can pour in and lead us as we pour forth in Your name. Amen

August 10, 2020

Good Morning Princesses!

Praise His Holy Name!

First things first. Thank you and please continue to send in your scriptures by August 14th and we will showcase in our Holy Spirit prayer story later this month. Please email your scriptures to godsopportunity.canton@gmail.com. Can't wait to see what you send in!

1. Calling On The Lord and "The Good News"

Picking up where we left off last week,

"It was impossible for death to keep its hold on him". Acts 2:24

As Peter continues to address the crowd he shares with them the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In other words, the Good News. And guess what? There's good news. I mean GOOD NEWS in all caps. The Good News continues with us! Peter reminds us that Jesus' descendant, David, whom Peter identified as a prophet who prophesied through the psalm about the Messiah and his resurrection. (Psalm 16:8-11; Psalm 17:8-11 and Acts 2:25-28 )

* Always Remember...

2. V-I-C-T-O-R-Y In Jesus (Lord AND Messiah)

Knowing that Jesus is both our Lord and Messiah is NEWS beyond NEWS. Knowing that we have victory because of Jesus' resurrection gives us all a sense of joy, peace. Peter puts all the chips in by affirming that Jesus is both our Lord and Messiah. He is our hope and salvation:

"This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear." (Acts 2:32:33)

3. So, What Must We Do?

Dear princesses, we are part of a royal family. When asked, Peter, full of courage tells the crowd exactly what they should do to receive God's Holy Spirit gift:

Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

4. A Promise and Unity

The promise is for all of us, our children, "and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”.

The rest of Acts Chapter 2 establishes the framework for the practices and priorities of the early church; unity and community in Jesus Christ by:

Teaching, Fellowshipping, Breaking of Bread, Praising God, and Praying.

In Jesus' Name, AMEN.
Until next week Princesses!
